News Flash

After a splendid day on Saturday and a great 74 – 0 win against Inverness Craig Dunain, the 1st XV were duly presented the League winners award by the SRU North Forum Rep, our very own past president Vernon Fawcett. A good number of spectators were there to watch the game in brilliant sunshine to cap a very good season from the team which now sees them promoted into BT Caledonia League Division 2 North. A great achievement for the team led by captain Bob Green and vice-captains Mark Mackenzie and Tobias Cochrane-Dyet and the coaching team of Bruce Strachan, Donald Ballantyne and Eric Strachan and lots of other willing helpers.

Scottish Rugby invite you to take part in a very short Equality and Diversity Course provided by ACAS.

Equality and Diversity Awareness – Request from SRU
Scottish Rugby has recently achieved the Intermediate Equality Standard in Sport and now has an Equality Action Plan and a dedicated Equality and Outreach Manager.
Our aim is for everyone involved in rugby to feel included and respected playing the game. We believe that each one of us has a responsibility to ensure this is achieved.
One of the actions from the Equality Action Plan is to increase equality awareness amongst our member clubs. Therefore, we encourage you to undertake a short equality and diversity course.
We have identified appropriate training provided by ACAS, that takes around 20 minutes to complete.
Visit and head to the Equality and Diversity section, where you’ll find the course. You will need to register on the website to access the training.
We kindly ask that you pass this information onto as many club members as possible and ask them to complete the training.
For further information please contact Scottish Rugby’s Equality and Outreach Manager, Pete Young (, by email.

Scotland Internationals Descend on Deeside RFC

Around 50 members attended the Deeside RFC Royal Bank RugbyForce day on Saturday where a team of adults from the club turned their hands to the many tasks of repair, maintenance and enhancement of the Woodend playing facilities. The day was a great success as part of the community engagement and pre-season preparation of the facilities for the first home game of the season on 7th September.

Following a week-long successful  training camp for the junior and mini team sections at the Woodend facilities in Banchory,  Scotland internationals Tim Visser and Grayson Hart were on hand to support the club’s event. Both Tim and Grayson got “stuck-in” to some training sessions with the youngsters where they earned themselves a well-deserved “cuppa” and some of the home baking that was on offer.

The ladies from the club did try and tempt the Scotland stars to assist them in their painting duties of the facilities before they were both called to fulfil their formal duties to present the certificates to all the youngsters that attended the training camp.

Deeside RFC runs a senior team and has thriving youth, junior and micro teams, providing training and rugby matches for all ages. New members always welcome see for details.
